1. Discovery Call Script
Opening — Rapport Building (3-5 minutes)
"Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me today, [Parent Name]. Before I share anything about our programs, I would love to learn more about [Student Name]. What grade are they in, what exams are they preparing for, and what prompted you to look into test prep now?"
"That is really helpful context. And what schools is [Student Name] considering? Are we talking about highly selective schools, state universities, or still exploring options?"
Discovery — Diagnostic Questions (10-15 minutes)
"Has [Student Name] taken a practice SAT or ACT yet, or do you have PSAT scores? I would love to understand their starting point."
"Every student has natural strengths and areas for growth. What subjects does [Student Name] feel most confident in, and where do they typically struggle?"
"How does [Student Name] typically handle standardized tests? Some students feel anxious, others feel confident, and many are somewhere in between."
"What does [Student Name]'s schedule look like? Are they involved in sports, clubs, or other activities that we need to work around?"
"If you could wave a magic wand, what SAT or ACT score would make you feel confident about [Student Name]'s college applications?"
"Have you looked at any other test prep options? What did you like or not like about what you have seen so far?"
Education — Sharing Insights (5-8 minutes)
"Based on everything you have shared, here is what I see. [Student Name]'s starting point of [score] is actually a great foundation — students at this level typically have the content knowledge but need strategic refinement. The biggest opportunity I see is in [specific section/strategy]. We have helped students with very similar profiles improve by [X] points on average."
"Here is what is interesting about the [section] — most students lose points not because they do not know the material, but because they approach the questions in an inefficient way. We have a specific methodology for [section] that addresses exactly this."
Recommendation — Presenting the Program (5-8 minutes)
"Given [Student Name]'s goals and timeline, I recommend our [Program Name]. It is a [duration] program that includes [sessions], [practice tests], and [materials/support]. What makes it particularly well-suited for [Student Name] is [specific reason tied to discovery]."
"The investment for this program is [$X], which includes everything — all materials, practice tests, progress tracking, and the score improvement guarantee. We also offer payment plans that make it more manageable for families."
Close — Asking for the Enrollment (3-5 minutes)
"Does this program feel like the right fit for [Student Name]?"
"I would love to get [Student Name] started. Our next cohort begins [date] and currently has [X] spots remaining. Would you like me to reserve a spot?"
"The next step is simple — I will send you the enrollment form and we can schedule [Student Name]'s diagnostic for [day]. We will have a complete study plan ready by the first session."
If They Need Time
"I completely understand — this is an important decision. What I can do is hold a spot for 48 hours while you discuss it. After that, I cannot guarantee availability for this cohort. Does that work?"

Text Message Response to Inquiry (Within 5 minutes)
Hi [Parent Name], this is [Your Name] from [Business Name]. I received your inquiry about [exam] prep for [Student Name]. I have a few quick questions to make sure I recommend the right program. Do you have 2 minutes for a quick call, or would you prefer to text?
Phone Response to Inquiry
"Hi [Parent Name], this is [Your Name] from [Business Name]. Thank you so much for inquiring about test prep for [Student Name]. I would love to help. Do you have about 5 minutes right now for me to ask a few quick questions so I can point you in the right direction?"
3. Objection Handling Scripts
"It Is Too Expensive"
"I completely understand — [$X] is a significant investment. Every parent I have worked with felt the same way initially. What helped them decide was looking at the potential return. A [X]-point improvement can mean [$X] more in scholarship eligibility. When you look at it that way, the investment often pays for itself many times over. We also offer payment plans — [$X] per month for [X] months — which many families find makes it much more manageable."
"We Need to Think About It"
"Of course — this is an important decision and I want you to feel completely confident. What specific questions do you need to think through? I am happy to answer anything that would help. Also, I should mention that our next cohort begins [date] and currently has [X] spots remaining. I can hold a spot for 48 hours while you decide — would that be helpful?"
"My Child Can Study on Their Own"
"That is great that [Student Name] is self-motivated — that is honestly one of the biggest predictors of success. Many of our best students also tried self-study first. The challenge we see is that students often practice the wrong strategies, reinforcing mistakes rather than correcting them. Our diagnostic identifies exactly which [X] question types are costing [Student Name] points, so every minute of study targets the right areas. Even students who are strong self-studiers typically see much faster improvement with targeted guidance."
"We Are Looking at Other Tutors"
"I am so glad you are doing your due diligence — that is exactly what I would do as a parent. What I would encourage you to ask every tutor is: what is your average score improvement, and do you offer any kind of guarantee? Our students average [X]-point improvements, and we back that with a [score] improvement guarantee. I would also ask about their experience specifically with the [exam] — [X]+ hours of [exam]-specific teaching makes a real difference."
"We Already Have a Tutor"
"That is wonderful that you have support in place. I am curious — how long has [Student Name] been working with them, and have you seen measurable score improvement so far? Sometimes students need a different approach or a fresh perspective, especially if they have plateaued. We offer a free diagnostic that might reveal different opportunities. There is no obligation — it is just a way to get a second opinion on what [Student Name] needs most."
"It Is Not the Right Time"
"I appreciate that timing matters. Here is what I have observed — students who start [X] weeks before their test date consistently outperform those who start [X minus 4] weeks before. [Student Name]'s target test is [date], which means the ideal start date is [date]. Starting later does not just mean less preparation time — it means more stress and less flexibility if [Student Name] needs additional support in any area."
"My Child Is Too Busy"
"I hear this from almost every family, and I completely get it. That is exactly why we designed our program to be efficient, not time-consuming. Our sessions are [length] and focused exclusively on the strategies and question types that will move the needle for [Student Name]. We also work around [activity/sport] schedules — many of our students are varsity athletes, theater performers, or have part-time jobs. The time we save by studying strategically more than makes up for the session time."
"We Tried Test Prep Before and It Did Not Work"
"I am sorry to hear that — a bad test prep experience is frustrating for both parents and students. If you do not mind me asking, what specifically did not work? [Listen] That is actually a very common issue with [generic programs / hourly tutoring / self-paced apps]. Our approach is different because [specific differentiator tied to their complaint]. We also guarantee results — if [Student Name] does not improve by [X] points, [guarantee terms]. That is how confident we are that our methodology works."

"Hi [Parent Name], this is [Your Name] from [Business Name]. I wanted to follow up on the consultation we had last week about [Student Name]'s test prep. I know these decisions take time. Do you have any questions I can answer that would help you decide?"

>
"I also wanted to let you know that our [date] cohort now has [X] spots remaining, and I have had [X] inquiries this week. I want to make sure [Student Name] has a spot if you decide to move forward."
Follow-Up 5: Day 10 (Email)
Subject: Is test prep worth the investment? Here is the data.
Hi [Parent Name],
>
One of the most common questions I hear is whether private test prep is worth the investment. So I put together some data from our students last year:
>
- Average improvement: [X] points
- Students who improved by 100+ points: [X]%
- Average scholarship increase: $[X]
- Parent satisfaction score: [X]/10
>
The families who saw these results had one thing in common: they started preparing [X] weeks before the test date. [Student Name]'s target test is [date], which means the window for optimal preparation is closing.
>
I still have [X] spots in the [date] cohort. If you would like to move forward, just reply to this email and I will send the enrollment link.
>
[Your Name]
Follow-Up 6: Day 14 (Text)
Hi [Parent Name], I know timing is everything with test prep. [Student Name]'s target test date ([date]) is approaching, and our next cohort starts [date] with just [X] spots left. Happy to answer any remaining questions — text or call me anytime at [number]. — [Your Name]
Follow-Up 7: Day 21 (Final Email)
Subject: Following up one last time
Hi [Parent Name],
>
I wanted to follow up one final time about [Student Name]'s test prep. I completely understand if the timing is not right or if you have chosen another path.
>
If test prep is not a priority right now, I respect that decision. If you do decide to explore it in the future, I would welcome the opportunity to help [Student Name] succeed.
>
In the meantime, I have attached a free [resource] that [Student Name] might find useful regardless of which path you choose.
>
Wishing [Student Name] all the best,
[Your Name]
>
P.S. — If you know any other families with students preparing for the [exam], I would be grateful for an introduction.

Partnership Proposal Presentation
"Dr. [Name], thank you for taking the time to meet with me. I have done some research on [School Name] and see that your current average SAT score is [X], which is [above/below] the state average of [X].

Here is what I see as the opportunity: raising that average by just [X] points would increase your students' merit scholarship eligibility by an estimated [$X]. That is [$X] in additional funding for [School Name] families — from a program that costs [$X] total.
>
Our SAT Accelerator program includes: [list components]. We provide all materials, instructors, progress reporting to your staff, and parent communication. Your teachers and counselors do not take on any additional workload.

I propose starting with a [X]-week pilot with [X] students. If the results meet our targets, we can discuss expanding to the full junior class. If not, you have lost nothing.

9. Bundle Upsell Scripts
At Point of Enrollment — Exam Progression Bundle
"Since [Student Name] is preparing for the SAT, I wanted to mention that many of our students also take the ACT. The strategies transfer very well, and having both options gives [Student Name] flexibility on test dates. We offer a combined SAT + ACT package that saves [$X] versus enrolling separately. Would you like me to add that option to your enrollment?"
At Point of Enrollment — Value-Added Bundle
"One more thing — many families find that adding our college essay review sessions makes the application process much smoother. It is a 3-session package where we help [Student Name] craft compelling essays. If you add it today, I can bundle it with the test prep program for a [$X] discount. Would you like to hear more about what is included?"
Post-Midpoint Diagnostic — Group to Private Upsell
"[Parent Name], [Student Name]'s diagnostic shows great overall progress — [X] points up! I did notice that [specific section/question type] is still costing [them] 3-4 points per section. I recommend adding two private sessions focused exclusively on this area. It is a [$X] add-on that could easily push [Student Name] past the [target score] mark. Would you like me to set that up?"
10. Cancellation Save Scripts
When a Parent Wants to Cancel Before Starting
"[Parent Name], I completely understand that circumstances change. Before we process the cancellation, can I ask what prompted the decision? [Listen]
>
I see. Here is what I can do — instead of canceling, I can [offer alternative: defer enrollment to next cohort / switch to a different program format / pause and resume later]. This way [Student Name] does not lose this opportunity, and we maintain flexibility for your family. Would that work better?"
When a Parent Is Dissatisfied Mid-Program
"[Parent Name], I am so sorry to hear that you are not satisfied. Your experience matters enormously to me, and I want to make this right. Can you tell me specifically what has been disappointing? [Listen carefully]
>
Thank you for sharing that. Here is what I am going to do: [specific remedy — switch instructor, add sessions, adjust curriculum, etc.]. I am also going to [personal follow-up action]. My goal is that by [timeframe], you see the improvement you expected. If not, we will [guarantee-related remedy]. Does that feel fair?"
When a Student Wants to Quit
"[Student Name], I hear that you are feeling frustrated. That is actually really normal at this point in the process — a lot of students feel this way right before they have their breakthrough. Can I ask what specifically feels hardest right now? [Listen]
>
Here is what I know: you have already improved [X] points, and the hardest part is behind you. The strategies we are covering in the next two sessions are the ones that typically produce the biggest score jumps. Let us make a deal — stick with it for two more sessions. If you are not feeling more confident after that, we will [adjust approach]. But I have a feeling you are closer to a breakthrough than you realize."
USAGE NOTES
Personalize every script with the parent and student names, specific scores, and relevant details from your discovery conversation.
Do not read scripts robotically. Use them as frameworks, memorize the structure, and speak naturally.
Listen more than you talk. The best sales conversations are 70% listening and 30% speaking.
Adapt tone to the parent. Some parents want data and logic. Others want emotional reassurance. Match their communication style.
Always end with a clear next step. Every conversation should close with a specific action and timeline.
Practice these scripts with a peer or mentor before using them in live sales situations. The more natural they feel, the more effective they become.
