Module 1: Foundation & Market Positioning

The Problem

Most course creators never build the business they envision because they start building in the wrong place. They record videos before validating demand. They design curriculums before understanding who they serve. They price based on what feels fair rather than what the transformation is worth. Day 1 fixes this by establishing your true starting position.

The Course Business Scorecard

Rate yourself 1-10 on each dimension. Be brutally honest. This scorecard is for you alone.

1. Course Quality & Transformation Clarity (1-10) Does your course deliver a clear, measurable transformation? Can you articulate the before state and after state in one sentence? A course on "photography" scores low. A course that "takes smartphone photographers to booking their first paid wedding in 90 days" scores high.

2. Offer Strength & Perceived Value (1-10) Does your offer include bonuses, guarantees, and resources that make the price feel like a bargain? Or are you selling course access alone?

3. Pricing & Profit Margins (1-10) Is your course priced based on the transformation value? Are your profit margins at least 70% after delivery costs?

4. Sales Conversion Rate (1-10) Of every 100 people who see your offer, how many buy? Above 3% scores high. Below 1% needs immediate work.

5. Traffic & Lead Generation (1-10) Are you generating consistent, qualified leads every week? Or is lead generation sporadic and unpredictable?

6. Email List & Nurture System (1-10) Do you have an email list of 1,000+ engaged subscribers? Are you emailing them at least weekly with valuable content?

7. Sales System & Funnel (1-10) Do you have a documented, repeatable process that turns strangers into students? Or do you rely on random social media posts?

8. Student Success & Completion Rates (1-10) Do 40%+ of your students complete the course? Do you have testimonials from successful students?

9. Backend Revenue & Ascension (1-10) Do you have higher-tier offers (coaching, membership, done-for-you) that students can upgrade to?

10. Systems & Automation (1-10) How much of your business runs without your direct involvement? Can revenue come in while you sleep?

Calculating Your Score

Add all 10 scores. Maximum possible: 100.

  • 20-40: Foundation Phase. You are building from the ground up. Focus on modules 1-4.
  • 41-60: Growth Phase. You have a course but lack systems. Focus on modules 3-7.
  • 61-80: Scale Phase. You are making sales but need predictability. Focus on modules 6-10.
  • 81-100: Optimization Phase. You have a working business. Focus on modules 9-12.

Identifying Your #1 Leverage Point

Look at your three lowest scores. These are your constraint points — the bottlenecks limiting your revenue. You will address the lowest-scoring area first.

The Constraint Principle: Your business cannot grow beyond its weakest system. A brilliant funnel with no traffic fails. World-class content with weak offers fails. Fix the constraint first.
