# SECTION 1: Phone Answering Scripts
Script 1.1: Standard Phone Greeting
"Thank you for calling [Company Name], [City]'s highest-rated garage door service. This is [Your Name]. How can I help you today?"
Script 1.2: Emergency-Focused Greeting
"Thank you for calling [Company Name]. We have same-day availability. My name is [Your Name]. What is going on with your garage door?"
Script 1.3: After-Hours Greeting
"You have reached [Company Name]. Our office is currently closed, but our emergency line is always open. If this is an emergency, press 1 to be connected to our on-call technician. For non-urgent requests, leave a message and we will call you back first thing in the morning."
# SECTION 2: Emergency Call Scripts
Script 2.1: Broken Spring
Dispatcher: "Thank you for calling [Company]. This is [Name]. How can I help?"
Customer: "My spring broke and I cannot get my car out."
Dispatcher: "I am sorry you are dealing with that. A broken spring is our most common call and we can absolutely fix it today. Is your car trapped inside the garage?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "Okay, what type of door do you have—single car or two-car? And is it a standard 7-foot height or 8-foot?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "We carry all common spring sizes on every truck. Our technician can complete the repair in a single visit, typically 45-60 minutes. The total investment for a standard spring replacement is between $275 and $375 depending on the spring type. We have availability today between 11 and 1, or 2 and 4. Which works better?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "Perfect. Our technician [Name] will call you 30 minutes before arrival. He will inspect the door, confirm the exact price before starting any work, and the repair comes with a full one-year warranty. May I have your address and a callback number?"
Script 2.2: Opener Failure
Dispatcher: "Thank you for calling [Company]. How can I help?"
Customer: "My opener is not working."
Dispatcher: "I understand how frustrating that is. In most cases, this is a repairable issue rather than needing a full replacement. When you press the remote, do you hear the motor running, a clicking sound, or nothing at all?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "How old is the opener, and do you know the brand?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "Based on what you have described, this sounds like a [gear issue/circuit board problem/motor failure]. Our technicians carry parts for most major brands. The diagnostic visit is $149, which is applied to the repair if you proceed. Most opener repairs are $175 to $325 total. We have availability today at [time] or [time]. Which works for you?"
Script 2.3: Door Off Track
Dispatcher: "Thank you for calling [Company]. What is happening with your door?"
Customer: "My door came off the track and is hanging crooked."
Dispatcher: "That is a safety issue, and we prioritize those calls. Please do not operate the door or stand near it. Is the door currently stuck in an open or closed position?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "We can have a technician there within [timeframe]. The service call is $[179] for priority response, and most track realignments are $[225-325] total. We will also inspect the rollers, cables, and springs to make sure nothing else is damaged. Do you have a preference between [time] or [time]?"
# SECTION 3: Standard Repair Call Scripts
Script 3.1: General Repair Inquiry
Dispatcher: "Thank you for calling [Company]. This is [Name]. How can I help?"
Customer: "My garage door is making a loud noise when it opens."
Dispatcher: "I can help with that. A grinding or squeaking noise usually means the rollers need lubrication or replacement, or the opener drive system is wearing out. Is the door still opening and closing fully?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "When did you first notice the noise, and has it been getting louder?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "This is exactly the type of problem we fix every day. Our technician will diagnose the cause, lubricate the system, and replace any worn parts. The service call is $[89-129] depending on scheduling, and most noise-related repairs are $[150-275]. We can schedule you [tomorrow / this week]. What day works best?"
# SECTION 4: Replacement Consultation Scripts
Script 4.1: Qualifying for Replacement
Dispatcher: "Thank you for calling [Company]. This is [Name]. How can I help?"
Customer: "I think I need a new garage door."
Dispatcher: "I would be happy to help you with that. To make sure we bring the right samples and give you an accurate quote, can I ask a few quick questions?"
[Customer agrees]
Dispatcher: "What size is your current door—single car or two-car? And do you know if it is 7-foot or 8-foot height?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "How old is your current door, and are you looking to replace it because it is damaged, outdated, or not functioning?"
[Customer responds]
Dispatcher: "Perfect. We offer free in-home consultations where our specialist brings sample doors, measures your opening, and provides a written quote on the spot. The consultation takes about 45 minutes. We have appointments available [day] at [time] or [day] at [time]. Which works better for you?"
# SECTION 5: Price Objection Scripts (25+ Objections)
Objection 1: "That's too expensive."
Response: "I understand. This is more than you were expecting. Can I ask what you were expecting, or what you're comparing this to?"
[Listen carefully. Do not interrupt.]
Response to neighbor comparison: "That makes sense. A few things affect price: the size and weight of the door, whether it is one spring or two, and whether the company includes a warranty. Without seeing your neighbor's door, it is hard to compare. What I can tell you is this quote covers everything—parts, labor, warranty, and if anything goes wrong in the next year, we come back at no charge. Can I show you what each line item covers?"
Response to online price: "I see. What you're seeing is the wholesale cost of the spring itself. That does not include the 2-3 hours of labor, the specialized tools, the liability insurance, the truck and fuel to get here, and the warranty. If you bought the spring yourself and installed it, you'd save money. But garage door springs are under extreme tension and can cause serious injury. Every year, homeowners are injured doing this themselves. That is why most people hire a professional."
Response to affordability: "I completely understand. Home repairs always come at the worst time. We have two options that might help. Option one: I can do the critical repair now and schedule the secondary items for later when your budget allows. Option two: we offer financing through [partner] where you can spread this over 6 months with no interest. Would either of those help?"
Objection 2: "I need to think about it / talk to my spouse."
Response: "Absolutely. This is a significant decision. What I can do is lock in today's pricing and the current promotion for 7 days. After that, the manufacturer rebate expires and the price would be $[200] higher. Would you like me to hold this quote for you?"
[If they still need time]
Response: "I understand completely. Here is what I will do: I will leave you with this written quote that is good for 30 days. I will also send you an email with photos of your current door and the options we discussed. When you are ready, just call or text me directly. My number is on the card. Does that sound fair?"
Objection 3: "I have another quote for less."
Response: "I would be happy to review it with you. Often the difference is in what is included. Is it the same R-value? Same opener? Same warranty? Same installation standard? [Pause for response.] If they can truly deliver the same product and service for less, I will be the first to tell you to take it. Our goal is that you get the right door at a fair price, whether that is from us or someone else. Can we compare line by line?"
Objection 4: "Can you do any better on the price?"
Response: "The price I quoted includes a $[150] seasonal promotion that is active this month. Beyond that, I have two options: I can include a free smart opener upgrade on Option 2, or I can spread the payment over 12 months at $[198] per month with no interest. Which would be more helpful?"
Objection 5: "I just want the cheapest option."
Response: "I understand budget is important. The Standard option at $[1,695] will absolutely work and comes with our full warranty. Before you decide, can I ask: how long do you plan to stay in this home? [Listen.] If it is more than 3 years, the Premium option typically pays for itself in energy savings and lasts longer. But if you need the most affordable solution today, the Standard is a solid door. Which feels right for your situation?"
Objection 6: "Why is your service call so high?"
Response: "Fair question. Our service call covers a certified technician arriving at your home in a fully stocked truck, diagnosing the problem, providing a written quote, and performing a full safety inspection. That is different from a guy with a toolbox who charges $50 to look at it and then tells you he needs to come back with parts. Our goal is to fix it in one visit, correctly, with a warranty. That has real value."
Objection 7: "I will just fix it myself."
Response: "I respect that you are handy. For some home repairs, DIY makes sense. But garage door springs are under 200-300 pounds of tension. When they break, they can cause serious injury. Every year, emergency rooms treat homeowners who tried to replace springs themselves. We carry specialized tools and training for this exact reason. The $[275] you would pay us includes not just the part, but the safety expertise and warranty. Is your safety worth that investment?"
Objection 8: "The other company said they can do it for half the price."
Response: "That is a significant difference, and I want to make sure you are comparing the same thing. Can I ask: does their quote include the warranty? Are they licensed and insured? Do they carry the parts on their truck, or will they need to order them and come back? Will they pull a permit if required? We have seen situations where a lower quote became a higher total after add-ons and callbacks. I would rather you be informed than surprised."
Objection 9: "I am not sure I need a new door. Can you just repair it?"
Response: "Absolutely. Our first priority is to give you honest advice. If your door can be safely repaired at a reasonable cost, that is what we will recommend. Let me inspect it thoroughly and give you both options: the repair cost and the replacement cost. You decide what makes sense for your budget and your long-term plans. Fair enough?"
Objection 10: "That seems high for just a spring."
Response: "I understand. Let me break down what goes into that price. The spring itself is $[45-85] depending on size. But the installation requires: a technician with specialized training, a truck stocked with 20+ spring sizes, liability insurance, the time to safely release tension and install the new spring, a full safety inspection of the entire system, and a one-year warranty. When you add all that up, $[275-375] is the fair market rate for professional installation. The $50 springs online do not include any of that."
Objection 11: "I need to get other quotes first."
Response: "That is a smart approach. Here is what I will do: this written quote is valid for 30 days, so you have plenty of time to compare. When you get those other quotes, ask them these three questions: Is the warranty included? Are there any additional fees? Do you carry the parts on your truck? If their quote is truly better for the same service, I will tell you to take it. But I am confident you will see the value in what we offer."
Objection 12: "Do you offer a senior/military discount?"
Response: "Yes, we absolutely do. We offer 10% off every repair for military members, veterans, and seniors 65 and older. That would bring your spring replacement from $[325] to $[293]. Thank you for your service [or for being a valued member of our community]."
Objection 13: "Can I buy the parts and have you install them?"
Response: "We do not install customer-supplied parts for two reasons. First, we cannot warranty work done with parts we did not source, because we cannot verify their quality or specifications. Second, if the part fails, you are stuck with a broken door and a part you cannot return. We source professional-grade parts with manufacturer warranties, and we stand behind the entire job. The peace of mind is worth the difference."
Objection 14: "I have never heard of your company."
Response: "That is fair. We have been serving [City] for [X] years and have [X] five-star reviews on Google. Would it help if I sent you a link to our reviews so you can see what other homeowners say about us? We are fully licensed, insured, and our technicians are background-checked. We also offer a satisfaction guarantee—if you are not happy with the work, we make it right or you do not pay. Does that help you feel more comfortable?"
Objection 15: "Why do you charge more than [Big Box Store]?"
Response: "[Big Box Store] sells doors. They do not install them. When you buy a door there, you still need to hire an installer, buy the hardware, remove the old door, and handle any issues that come up. Our price includes everything: the door, professional-grade hardware, removal and disposal of your old door, expert installation, adjustment, testing, and a warranty. When you add up all the pieces at [Big Box Store], you will usually spend more, not less."
Objection 16: "I found a coupon for 20% off from another company."
Response: "Coupons can be great deals, or they can be bait-and-switch tactics. I have seen companies advertise 20% off, then add 'diagnostic fees,' 'disposal fees,' and 'emergency surcharges' that wipe out the discount. Our pricing is straightforward: what we quote is what you pay. No hidden fees. If their final price after all add-ons is truly lower for the same service, you should take it. But compare the total invoice, not the coupon."
Objection 17: "The door is working fine. I just want an estimate for future reference."
Response: "No problem at all. I am happy to provide a free estimate with no pressure. Many homeowners like to know what a replacement would cost so they can budget for it. While I am here, I will also do a quick inspection of your current door at no charge so you know its condition. That way, if something changes, you are prepared. When would be a good time for the estimate?"
Objection 18: "I am selling the house. I do not want to spend money on the door."
Response: "That is exactly why a garage door matters. A damaged or outdated garage door is one of the first things buyers notice, and it is one of the most common inspection issues. A $2,500 door replacement can add $5,000+ to your selling price. If you do not want to invest in a full replacement, we can do a tune-up and cosmetic refresh for $[amount] that makes the door presentable without a major investment. Would that be worth considering?"
Objection 19: "My landlord is supposed to fix this."
Response: "I understand. If this is a rental, the landlord typically covers garage door repairs. Would you like us to contact the landlord directly with a quote? We work with property managers all the time and can bill them directly. We just need their contact information and authorization. We can often get approval and complete the repair the same day. Does that work?"
Objection 20: "I am a real estate agent. I need this fixed before closing."
Response: "We work with real estate agents every day, and we understand that time is critical. We have a dedicated partner line for agents, and we guarantee a quote within 4 hours and completion within 24 hours for pre-closing repairs. The buyer gets a one-year warranty, and you get photos and documentation for the file. Is this for a closing on [date]?"
Objection 21: "Can you match the online price I found?"
Response: "Online prices are often misleading. They usually show the wholesale cost of just the door panel, not the hardware, track, opener, installation, or removal of your old door. When you see a door for $800 online, the installed price is typically $2,000-2,500. Our quote of $[amount] includes everything—no surprises. If you send me the link, I can explain exactly what is and is not included in that online price."
Objection 22: "I will wait until it breaks completely."
Response: "I understand wanting to delay the expense. But when a garage door spring or cable fails completely, it often causes secondary damage—bent tracks, damaged panels, or a broken opener. A $[275] repair today can become a $[1,200] replacement if the door falls. Plus, if it fails at the worst possible time—when you are leaving for work or during a storm—you are stuck with an emergency call at emergency rates. Fixing it now on your schedule is almost always cheaper and safer."
Objection 23: "Why should I choose you over [Competitor Name]?"
Response: "That is the right question to ask. Here is what sets us apart: First, we have a [X]-minute response guarantee for emergencies. Second, our technicians are employees, not subcontractors—background-checked, trained, and accountable. Third, we carry parts on every truck, so most jobs are done in one visit. Fourth, we have [X] five-star reviews from homeowners in [City]. And finally, we warranty our work for one year. I would encourage you to read our reviews and compare. If you choose us, we will earn that trust."
Objection 24: "Do I really need all these extras you are recommending?"
Response: "You do not need anything you do not want. Here is how I would prioritize: The spring replacement is essential—your door is not safe to use without it. The roller replacement is preventive—your rollers are showing wear and will likely fail within 6-12 months. The weather seal is optional but recommended if you are seeing light under the door. You can do just the spring today and schedule the rest later. What feels comfortable for your budget?"
Objection 25: "I am worried about having a stranger in my garage."
Response: "That is completely understandable, and we take your safety seriously. Every technician is background-checked, drug-tested, and wears a company uniform with a photo ID badge. We text you the technician's name and photo 30 minutes before arrival. They will never enter your home without permission. We are fully licensed and insured. If you ever feel uncomfortable, call me directly and I will handle it immediately. Your safety is our priority."
Objection 26: "I just had this repaired last year. Why is it broken again?"
Response: "That is frustrating, and I understand your concern. Let me inspect it and see what happened. Sometimes a previous repair was done with lower-quality parts, or the underlying cause was not addressed. Our repair includes a full system inspection to identify why it failed. If the previous repair was not done correctly, I will show you exactly what went wrong. And our warranty means if our repair fails within a year, we fix it at no charge. Let me take a look."
Objection 27: "How do I know you will not damage my property?"
Response: "That is a fair concern. We protect your floors with drop cloths, we do not lean tools against your walls or car, and we clean the work area before we leave. We carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance specifically for your protection. In [X] years of business, we have never had a property damage claim. And if something ever did happen, we are fully insured and would make it right immediately. We treat your home like our own."
Objection 28: "The door is old. Is it even worth repairing?"
Response: "That depends on three things: the door's condition, its age, and your plans for the home. If the door is under 15 years old and the panels are in good shape, repair is usually the smart choice. If it is over 20 years old, dented, or rusted, replacement may save money long-term. Let me inspect it thoroughly and give you both options with honest advice. I will tell you if repair makes sense or if replacement is the better investment. Fair enough?"
# SECTION 6: In-Home Sales Scripts
Script 6.1: The Door Replacement Close
"[Name], based on everything we have discussed—your home style, your energy concerns, and your budget—I recommend Option 2, the Premium Insulated package. It gives you the curb appeal you want, the R-12 insulation that saves $[amount] per year on energy, and the belt-drive opener that is virtually silent. The total investment is $2,795, and with our 12-month no-interest financing, that is $233 per month. We can schedule installation for next [day]. Would you like me to reserve that date?"
# SECTION 7: Upsell Scripts
Script 7.1: Roller Replacement Upsell
"While I am here, I noticed three of your rollers are cracked and the bearings are worn. They are not urgent, but in the next 6-12 months they will start causing noise and binding. I can replace all 10 rollers with sealed-bearing nylon rollers for $[180] while I am here. That eliminates the noise and gives you a smoother, quieter door. Would you like me to include that?"
Script 7.2: Smart Opener Upsell
"[Name], your opener is fixed and working perfectly. While I am wrapping up, can I show you something cool? [Pulls out tablet.] This is our smart opener upgrade. You can open and close your garage from anywhere, get alerts if it is left open, and see a live camera view. It is $[199] and takes me 10 minutes to install. Most customers tell me it is the best home upgrade they have made. Would you like me to add it?"
Script 7.3: Maintenance Membership
"[Name], your door is working great now, but garage doors need regular maintenance to stay safe and reliable. Our Standard Care membership is $149 per year and includes two professional tune-ups, 15% off any repairs, and no service call fees. Given what you just paid for today's repair, the membership practically pays for itself if you need us again. Would you like to add that protection today?"
# SECTION 8: Review Request Scripts
Script 8.1: On-Site Review Request
"[Name], I want to make sure you are completely satisfied before I leave. Is everything working the way you expected? [Wait for yes.] Great. Would you do me a personal favor and leave us a quick review on Google? It takes 30 seconds and helps homeowners in [City] find a company they can trust. I can send you the link right now."
Script 8.2: Follow-Up Text Review Request
"Hi [Name], this is [Company]. Thank you for choosing us for your garage door [service]. If you were happy with our service, would you share a quick review? [Direct Google link]. It takes 30 seconds and means the world to our small business. Thank you!"
# SECTION 9: Partner Referral Scripts
Script 9.1: Agent Recruitment Call
"Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company]. We specialize in garage door service for real estate professionals in [City]. I noticed you had [X] listings last year. I am reaching out because we offer free pre-listing garage door inspections for our partner agents. It prevents deal-killing surprises at buyer inspection. Would you be open to a 10-minute conversation about how we help your listings close faster?"
Script 9.2: Inspector Partnership Offer
