Day 1

Every successful bootcamp growth story begins with an honest assessment of where you stand today. Before building new systems, you must understand your current reality with precision.

The Bootcamp Growth Diagnostic

Revenue Model Clarity. Most bootcamps leave money on the table because they haven't fully mapped their revenue streams. Document every dollar flowing into your operation: upfront tuition payments, ISA income, deferred tuition installments, employer placement fees, corporate training contracts, and any government workforce development grants. Each stream has different growth levers, margins, and scaling timelines.

Enrollment Baseline. Record your last 6 months of cohort data: applications received, interviews conducted, offers extended, deposits paid, and enrollments confirmed. Calculate your conversion rate at each stage. Most bootcamps discover massive leakage between application and deposit that represents the fastest path to revenue growth.

Placement Performance. Your placement rate is the engine that drives every other metric. Document your last 3 cohort outcomes: percentage placed within 90 days, 180 days, and 1 year. Record average starting salary, salary increase percentage, and job titles secured. If you don't have placement data, that becomes your highest priority gap to fill.

Market Position Assessment. Rate your bootcamp across five dimensions: curriculum relevance, instructor quality, career services, alumni network strength, and brand recognition in your market. Be brutally honest. This assessment reveals where to invest and where you already have competitive advantage.

Establishing Your North Star Metric

Bootcamps are outcomes businesses. Your North Star metric should directly reflect student success. The strongest choice is "verified job placements within 180 days of graduation." This metric aligns marketing, enrollment, curriculum, career services, and partnership efforts around a single outcome.

Alternative North Star metrics include: total enrolled students per quarter, placement rate percentage, or average graduate salary increase. Choose one metric that, if improved, naturally improves all other key numbers.

The 90-Day Target Framework

Set three-tier targets for Day 90:

Conservative Target: 25% improvement in your North Star metric. For most bootcamps, this means increasing enrollment by 2-4 students per cohort or raising placement rates by 5-8 percentage points.

Moderate Target: 50% improvement. This typically requires new lead sources, offer optimization, and funnel improvements working together.

Aggressive Target: 100% improvement. This demands significant structural changes: new tuition models, employer partnerships, or program verticals launched within the 90-day window.

Today's Action Items

Document your complete revenue model with monthly averages for the last 6 months. Calculate your enrollment funnel conversion rates. Record your last 3 cohort placement outcomes. Select your North Star metric and set your three-tier 90-day targets.

Key Takeaway

You cannot grow what you do not measure. The bootcamps that scale fastest are those with the clearest picture of their current reality. Today's diagnostic becomes the baseline against which all progress is measured.
